What do the groups involve?
Changes Bristol are starting a new section of our service dedicated to providing peer support to people who want to talk about the wellbeing implications of the cost of living crisis. These groups will be located in venues all over Bristol (all confirmed venues will be listed below.
Changes is part of Bristol’s One City cost of living response. A network of ‘Welcoming Spaces’ where residents can go this winter to keep warm, share food, charge phones, connect with others, and receive advice and wellbeing support from trained volunteers. Within the ‘Welcoming Spaces’ Changes will run wellbeing groups to support and empower people, build resilience and power connection.
These wellbeing group will only be in-person groups. There is no need to book ahead or sign up prior to attending, you can just turn up on the day. (We do ask that you attend 5 mins prior to the start time).
What can I talk about?
You can talk about whatever is on your mind. There are no rules and no problem is too big or small for them to listen to.
It is an informal service though. Our volunteers are volunteers, they are not trained counsellors, so while many of them will have lived experience of their own mental health struggles, they are not “mental health professionals”. They are peers, and although they may be able to tell you what things have helped them in the past, but they’re not an advice line. They are also not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, this page may help you find more immediate and specialised support.
